Mts. Lubo & Ngusong Kabayo – Tangwa Peak

Mts. Lubo and Ngusong Kabayo (Tangwa Peak) are the newest hiking destinantion in Tanay Rizal. It’s 2-3 hours away from Metro Manila which jump off point is located at Barangay Laiban. It can be done in twin day hike as the trails are walking in the park with some semi gradual ascent.

Laiban Quatro Trails

We are quite familiar with this place because Tanay is the neighboring town of Antipolo. We climbed most of Tanay mountains such as Irid, Tukduan Banoi, Batolusong, Maynoba, Paliparan, Binutasan and Sapari and this mountain is in the same area.

We visited the place via Private transport. From Cogeo Gate 2, drive straight through Marcos Highway. The nearest Landmark is Martesem Resort. From there, you need to ride a habal-habal going to Brgy. Laiban.

Along our way, we weren’t expecting to see a sea of clouds. But during my habal – habal ride, I asked Kuya Sonny to slow down to see it up close.  We’re a bit late that time since we reached the place around 7:00 in the morning. Still we were blessed to have a glimpse of that sea of clouds.

Upon arriving at the jump-off point, we were welcomed by some of the friendly locals as well as the group of scheduled tour guide.

We proceeded to their Brgy. Hall and noticed the well organized Guide schedule.  Our Guide for that day is Ate Bem.The first part of the trail was easy –  passing some rooy craft paddies then woodland. Tall cogon leaves struck our skins from time to time.

There’s no cellular signal through out the trail. We  just simply trek then rest then trek and more time of rest hahaha. No rush and time limit but to enjoy the company of the group with some good talk. This is our way to have a cherished memories that close to nature.

In fact, upon reaching the summit the group decided to make another cool travel video to the tune of “Pinangingiti mo ako”.

Ate Bem shared to us the prominent rock formation of  “Ngusong Kabayo”. As per the local there, they got the name because of the shape of the distinct limestone formation on its summit.

Driven by our passion for adventure, the group explore the pinacle of ngusong Kabayo, we were all captivated by the beauty of the surroundings – the beauty of Sierra Madre mountain range at its finest!

After some time, we managed ourselves to explore the nearby peak – Tangwa Peak. It was around 12:00 PM not to mention the scorching heat of the sun, we then headed our way to nearby falls as our sidetrip. We literally descended through out the trail to reach the Laiban Falls.

The flows of the water were not that strong from above but the beauty is quite inviting.  The basin is not that deep due to the summer season. Since we are the last hiker who descended that time, we almost explore the whole area but not the main waterfalls as the main basin was waiting for us at the exit point of traverse trail of the falls.
