Tayak Hill is one of the very calming and peaceful as it is located in a hilly place in Laguna. It has an estimated elevation of up to 564 meters above sea level. It is a nature park that many outdoor enthusiasts admire today.
After several visits to Tayak Hill, I’ve finally figured out what I like best about this place – EVERYTHING! The tranquil atmosphere is simply unbeatable. There’s something magical about this place and I always go the extra mile to make sure each and every visit is a memorable one.
So, I chose this place to PROPOSE to my girlfriend who is now my fiancee with the help of my very supportive friends and a perfect timing from God’s grace.
Here our stories:
We visited the place quite many times and we always do the visit on a daytrip basis. This time, the group agreed to visit this again but we will stay overnight there (camping style!).
Our day started at 7 Eleven Boni around 10AM, while waiting other to arrive. We took some snacks and bread that serves as our heavy breakfast. It was around 11AM when we left Manila and fetched Jenny and Bry around BGC area.
Me and Paul took the SLEX going to Riza, Laguna. I under estimate the travel time going there as we encountered some traffic around Los Banos Laguna due to on-going road construction at some point. We had our late lunch at Jollibee Calauan, it was around 3:30 PM when we resumed our ride going to Tayak Hill. We our 2 hours away to witness the sunset ever .
At exactly 4:00 PM we reached the town of Rizal in Laguna and it will take 30 minutes ride going to the jump-off point of Tayak. Upon arriving, I noticed the gloomy weather at the area, the clouds continuous covering the backdrop mountain which is Mt. Cristobal. On no! no sunset view this time.
Originally, we planned to set-up camp at the camping area. The local tourism warned us and they don’t allow us to do overnight camping due to the latest news of NPA ceasefire termination effect with the government and the area was on red alert status. With this condition, I don’t have any choice but to abort the planned overnight camping. (safety first)
With little time to spare, we still try to push the planned proposal to Joana on top of the hill. We did some rehearsal steps with the tune of 24k Majic led by Paul while Sheng and April secretly placed some picture on stairs going to Hill.
It was around 5PM when we started our trek going to Tayak Hill. The gentle breeze greeted us along our way as well as the pictures planned to Joana. She’s a little bit surprise and asking “why there are pictures there”. I just simply replied to her that these pictures are for Valentine special lol. (kamot ulo) sigh!.
From light wind to strong wind and fogs brought some light rain. There’s no hope to witness the sunset there. I felt sad not only for me but for the whole group as I need to postponed the proposal (the original plan).
We stayed overnight at some resorts in Nagcarlan where we get 1 rooms that good for the whole with the affordable price. Since, some of the group came straight from work (GY shifter) we allow us to take their power nap while others started preparing our food for dinner.
While Joana is sleeping, we still discussed some plan and alternatives for proposal. They offered some plan B. I opened my self for that but I still eager to do the proposal on top of the hill.
It was a long night of preparation not to mention the rehearsal of dance step that serves as our bonding and socials. Good thing that Kuya Wed was able to join us that night and met Pastor Bry! Amen!!
On our second day, weather was fine. It was a sunny day around 8AM but around 9AM the weather turned to a gloomy and indeed a bed weather.
It was 11AM when we started to do again some rehearsal in the area. Weather was great that time and after an hour we headed back to Tayak Hill. This is it (so help us God!)
The weather that time was unpredictable, rain started to drop from light to occasional. But we are still blessed when the rain stops and it was something magical when the sun come-ups. Our excitement heightened and we don’t’ waste any time!!..
We dance with the tune of 24K magic and the plans were executed smoothly. IT’S A YESSSS!!!!!!! Orayt!!! (See the linked video how the proposal were executed. )
It’s was truly remarkable and symbolic as we had our view at the top of the hill not to mention the cloudy day from previous days. It’s simply amazing how God works.
All these experiences made our relationship strong with the support of our friends, with the guidance of our families, with the love of nature and with the center of our relationship – God. Tayak Hill is absolutely tops in my book!.
Special Thanks to Paul, April, Jenny, Angelo Bryan, Ronfel, Sheng, Whed, Twinkle, Cris and Euri. I owe you guys for this. Until next time soyah!!
